NORTH RALEIGH WAKE FOREST ATHLETICS CHEERLEADING

North Raleigh Wake Forest Athletics (NRWFA) offers a great Cheerleading opportunity for girls and boys from ages 5-16!  The NRWFA Cheerleading Program is comprised of student-athletes with excitement for cheerleading, and spirit. We cheer at both exhibitions and competitive levels, and cheer weekly at football games!

Our teams consistently qualify in the top spots for the Pop Warner Mid-South Regional Competition.  Placing 1st in the Varsity and Junior Pee Wee Divisions at locals and 1st (Junior Pee Wee) and 2nd (Varsity) at Regionals in 2021.

And over the last several years, the Cheer teams have qualified for the Pop Warner National Cheer Championships in Disney World.  In 2011, the Junior Varsity Cheerleaders won 1st place at Nationals where they beat out 7 other teams for the title and in 2012 the Varsity team won 3rd place in the Nation.

In 2021, the Varsity team finished 4th in the nation with Junior Pee Wee finishing the season at 10th.

Practice and Games:

Cheerleaders are required to attend all practices and games!  Practice during August for all teams will be held at a convenient location.  Teams practice up to 4 nights a week in August and up to 3 nights a week from September through November.  Starting in September, non-competitive teams typically practice two days a week, while competitive teams practice 3 nights a week.  Games start near the end of August and go through October.

Opportunities are provided to participate in up to 2 age groups, depending on the number of participants at the different ages, NRWFA will determine the teams to be formed:

These teams participate in sideline cheer for their teams on Saturday during the season and will participate in the competition at the local level at the Consolidated Football Federation (CFF) competition locally on a Sunday in October (tentatively scheduled for October 16, 2022).  The top 3 teams in the division and size will advance to the Regional Competition for the opportunity to advance to the Mid-South Regional Competition, in Concord, NC on the Sunday, November 20th (schedule could change) to vie for an opportunity to go to the National Competition in Florida. The top two teams from the regional completion will advance to the National competition which will be held December 4th through December 8th in Orlando, FL.  (Competition will only be 1 of these days) Competition will take place at the Orlando Convention Center with fun at Universal!

All participants on a competitive team will be required to fundraise throughout the season to offset the cost associated with the National Competition. We will devote A LOT of time to fundraising for this event. Fundraising is done outside of practice times.  The association, as well as the individual teams, will run fundraisers starting as early as July and go through November.  When you register, please be sure you understand that expenses for travel to National Championships in Florida must be covered by the cheer families. Fundraising may not cover all costs.

If your girl is on a competition squad plan on traveling for Regionals in Concord, NC and Nationals in Orlando, Florida this year!
